Visual appearance of the plant Wheat is a green plant, which grows up tall like a long grass. At the end of spring it forms a head of wheat, which has tiny white flowers. At the end of spring it dries off to a beautiful golden brown colour. Usage on Glenvar Wheat is the predominant cereal grown on Glenvar since 1981 and is planted on 50% of the arable acres. Up to 10,000T of wheat is harvested annually at Glenvar today. Our ideal climate enables an excellent wheat sample to be grown. Wheat is the most profitable and consistent grain in our rotation. Currently at Glenvar we produce predominantly Noodle Wheat. Quality assurance will help us produce an excellent product into the future. Wheat Straw is produced as a bi-product of wheat production adding value to the plant.

End Users of the seed The bulk of Glenvar's wheat is produced for overseas markets, generally Japan, in the production of Noodles. A small amount of wheat is also sold locally to flour millers in Western Australia. The domestic market for wheat in Western Australia is very small hence overseas markets are targeted.
