Lucerne

In 2001 Lucerne was grown on Glenvar for the first time. 200Ha were planted in a strategy to help combat a  growing salinity problem. The variety planted was Salado which was favoured for it's salinity reputation.

The Lucerne establishment was very successful and we hope to use Lucerne into the future to aid in the management of the sustainability of our land.

Summer Crops

In 2001 several summer crops are also being trialled on the property. Three hectare trial plots have been established of several varieties of corn, sorghum and millet. The trials will give an insight into the viability of summer cropping in our climate.
