At Glenvar maintaining the enviroment in which we farm is imperative to our long term survival. We have changed from full tillage practices to no-till farming to reduce erosion of our sandy soils and to increase soil microbial activity.
The biggest threat to our long term survival is salinity. We have combated this with planting around seven thousand trees a year since the early eighties, sowing lucerne and deep drainage. Over the last ten years the deep drains have been the most effective.
