Harvest 2004

Harvest 2004 at Glenvar was completed on the 7th of December (approximately 6 weeks).  The crop was harvested using two John Deere CTS II and three Caterpillar Lexion 480's towing Massey Ferguson 187 balers.  These were working 24 hours/day seven days a week for most of harvest and the efficiency of this was another major factor in the early finish.
The Caterpillar Lexion 480's towing Massey Ferguson 187 balers is a world first innovation.

Seeding 2005

Seeding 2005 at Glenvar was completed on May 16 in a total of 16 days.  The crop was planted using two 95E Caterpillar tractors towing 55 foot bars and one 85D Caterpillar tractor towing a 44 foot bar.  Wheat, barley, canola and lupins were planted, along with lucerne and clover pastures.  Spraying was done using a Nitro 275 self-propelled sprayer with 120 foot boom.

Harvest 2005

We anticipate harvest 2005 to commence with swathing of canola towards the end of October, followed by the harvesting of barley then lupins and wheat.  Harvesting will be done by two Caterpillar 580 harvesters with 42 foot fronts towing Massey Ferguson balers.  Swathing is done by the Nitro sprayer with a 30 foot Honeybee front.

Sheep

Sheep were reintroduced to Glenvar in 2004 and were intitially run on lucerne which had been successfully sown in salt affected areas on the property.  In 2005, clover was added to this pasture mix and pasture became included in the crop rotation.  4,000 ewes are currently being run on Glenvar.
